Privacy Policy
Dwellory is a camping directory. This page explains, in plain language, what information the site and your browser handle.
What we store on our side
Dwellory has no user database. We do not keep accounts, reviews, saved campgrounds or sign-in details on a server. Everything you create on the site stays in your own browser (its local storage) and disappears if you clear your browsing data.
What is stored in your browser
- Your saved campgrounds, any reviews you write, your chosen dates, and your display name or sign-in profile (name, email and profile picture from the provider you choose).
- Your cookie choice, so we don't ask on every visit.
Analytics
With your permission we use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are useful. It sets cookies (names starting with _ga) and sends page-view data to Google. It loads only after you press Accept, and you can withdraw at any time using "Cookie settings" in the footer, which stops collection and removes those cookies. We do not send your name, email or sign-in details to Google Analytics.
Advertising
When advertising is enabled, we show ads through Google AdSense, and only after you accept cookies. We request non-personalized ads, meaning they are not based on your browsing history. Google may still use cookies to deliver, limit and measure ads; see how Google uses information from sites that use its services. If you decline, no ad requests are made.
Signing in with Google, Microsoft, Apple or Facebook
If you choose a social sign-in, the provider tells us your name, email address and profile picture. We keep them only in your browser, to show your name and to label reviews on your own device. We never send them to our own server, and we never receive your password. Each provider handles your data under its own privacy policy.
Maps, fonts and third-party content
Maps load tiles from OpenStreetMap servers, fonts from Google Fonts, and some libraries from public CDNs. Their operators can see your IP address as part of serving those files.
Deleting your data
Because your information lives in your browser, you can remove it yourself: sign out on the site, use "Cookie settings" to decline, and clear the site's data in your browser settings. If you signed in with Facebook, you can also remove Dwellory under Settings > Apps and Websites in your Facebook account. There is nothing stored on our servers to delete; if you would like written confirmation, email us.
Where the campground information comes from
Listings come from Recreation.gov's RIDB and the National Park Service (public U.S. government data) and from OpenStreetMap contributors (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). We can't guarantee it is current: confirm fees, dates and closures with the operator before you travel.
Children
The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
